Thela was founded on a simple belief: mental health education and support should be accessible to anyone who needs it — not only those who can afford private care. We are a non-profit organization committed to providing free mental health education, practical tools, and community programming for individuals and families across Ontario.

Our Mission

To reduce barriers to mental health support through education, community connection, and accessible programming — so that no one has to navigate their mental health alone

Our Values

  • Accessibility — We remove financial and systemic barriers wherever possible
  • Trauma-informed — All content and programs are grounded in trauma-informed principles
  • Community — Mental health is a shared responsibility, not an individual one
  • Inclusivity — We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences
  • Evidence-based — Our resources reflect current research and clinical best practices

What We Do

Thela provides:

  • A free public mental health education library covering anxiety, trauma, ADHD, burnout, relationships, and more
  • Downloadable worksheets and tools for self-guided support
  • Community programs including psychoeducation groups, peer support, and skills workshops
  • A curated directory of crisis lines and community resources across Ontario
  • Volunteer and placement opportunities for those who want to contribute

Our Approach

Thela is not a therapy clinic. We do not provide individual counselling services. What we do is build the foundation: the knowledge, tools, and community connections that help people take meaningful first steps toward wellness. We believe that understanding your own mind is a powerful act of healing. And that when people feel less alone, they heal more completely. Everything we create is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed principles — and written for real people, not just clinicians.
